I am licensed to practice the profession of Psychology in Puerto Rico #2629 and the state of Florida #PY11738. For the past 17 years, I have operated my private practice, which has provided me with a diverse professional career. In this practice, my focus is on working with adolescents, children, and adults. I offer psychotherapy to individuals, couples, families, and groups. I also administer a variety of psychological and personality tests for assessment and diagnosis. My private practice has helped me gain knowledge and skills that can only be obtained through continuous interaction with patients.
For the last 14 years, I have also worked as a Consultant for the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for employees of the United States Federal Government located in Puerto Rico. This practice has been a great opportunity to learn about organizational behavior and involves dealing with situations different from those usually encountered in private practice. These situations range from stress, anxiety, and depression due to work-related factors like for example, bullying.
Due to my preparation and experience as an EAP Consultant, I offer Management Coaching, Critical Incident Stress Management, and workshops on stress, effective communication, resilience, challenging workplace relationships, and other topics that benefit the work environment and productivity.
I have served as an expert witness in the courts of Puerto Rico and have experience in cases of sexual abuse. For three years, I worked with children and adolescents who were victims of abuse at the Integrated Center for Boys and Girls in Arecibo, Puerto Rico.
Teaching at the university level is one of the most enriching experiences, both for the student and the professor, and is crucial due to the impact it has on the training of future health professionals.
I have had the privilege and pleasure of teaching university courses at various universities in Puerto Rico, such as Universidad Carlos Albizu, Universidad Ana G. Méndez (Universidad del Este) and Universidad Inter Americana.Additionally, I have supervised psychology and counseling students in their internships to obtain their Master's degrees and practice the profession in Puerto Rico.
